Lincoln Plaza

Here at Lincoln Plaza we are done with our Christmas celebrations and many of the children have come to show off what Santa brought them.  However, one did mention that it isn't over because they also celebrate El Dia De Los Reyes, the Epiphany.  So it made me realize we can come up with some activities involving the Three Wise Men.  I too celebrate January 6th, Yeah for the 3 Wise Men (cool arts  & crafts below).  This week our goal is to come up with activities in celebration of the Epiphany along with getting back into our wii challenge.

Lincoln Plaza arts and crafts, ready to take on more felt projects for the year such as a puppet to come!!!!!! Lincoln Plaza Kids ROCK!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!  2013

Rancho Lindo

I had the kids make snowmen made out of foam...kids made their foam snowmen using glue and shaving cream...it was kind of like an experiment for them.  Then they did a wreath, using yarn and a cardboard cut out into a circle...this helped them with their motor skills.  Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Lincoln Plaza

The Lincoln Plaza is back in full effect and due to the fact that it is Christmas time, I have had time to reflect with my students on what good things come out of the holiday season.  I was actually shocked when I got the answer because many of them answered its when family time gets together and there is no fighting involved...it was surprising to hear that from many of my students.  Yet it made me come up with an excellent idea.

Its understood that times are tough in this society and I asked many of the students if they had put up a tree yet. Many of them responded no we have no money, so in the spirit of Christmas, all of the students will create Christmas ornaments and place them on the tree here at the plaza.  We began to do them Monday and many of them had so much fun doing them. They saw it as giving back to the community.  So far we have made some reindeer, reeds, and some candy cane decorations. We are looking at other possible ideas such as a nutcracker and a Santa.  This month we are taking it slow and looking at the good things the holiday season brings us.

Rancho Lindo

On Monday I had the kids work on their Christmas cards for their parents.  They used their imagination on how to create their own cards by drawing using paint, crayons, and glitter...once they were done, on a separate sheet of paper they had to write a couple of words to their parents wishing them a Merry Christmas.  Once they were done, I had them start working on their ornaments.

They will be painting and glueing pieces of puzzles into a circle, then they will add glitter while the paint is wet.  We will also be decorating our doors...kids will be cutting out the patterns that are drawn on contruction paper, painting the signs and putting our door decorations together.  We will be having our Christmas dinner party on the 21st of December.  The kids will sing to their parents on that day and the parents will also be invited to attend the dinner.  Merry Christmas everyone!

Cottonwood Creek

Here is our Christmas tree that we decorated...it is about 8 feet tall.  We are very grateful that it was donated to us.  One little boy said, "All it needs is an angel, and it'll be perfect."  Since we have an extra angel at home we used it on our tree here.  Hope you like it.  I also included a few pictures of the Santa letters and the kids personal Christmas trees.  Enjoy!

Goshen Village I

The kids are going to sit down and watch some fun Christmas movies here at Goshen Village I.  Drinking delicious hot chocolate and eating some popcorn.  It's starting to get to that perfect time where watching movies on a nice winter day will be the only thing these kids will want to do!

Cottonwood Creek

We had a box given to us so we are using it to make a big present.  The children first put white paper to cover the design on the box.  Next the children are going to use finger paint to color the box instead of wrapping paper.  Afterwards we are going to put a bow to finish off their present.

The children then wanted to play dodge ball, not the ordinary game, they added a twist.  The children want to play Snowman Dodge ball.  Instead of using the Dodge ball, we are going to use the leftover paper and make it into wads.  When the game starts they are going to have an equal amount of paper balls.  When you throw the paper balls you must make sure you get your opponent out.  If you do not get them out, the paper will be in their territory.  They can choose to throw it to get the opposite team out or they can keep it to create a snowman.  When the game is over, the losing team has one last chance to try to take the win.  In order to do that, whatever paper balls are leftover as a team you must attempt to make a snowman.

Now using green construction paper the children are going to cut out a Christmas tree. Once they are done they will use markers, color pencils and glitter to decorate them. It is a very fun simple art activity.  Lots of fun!

Sunrise Villa

Here are some Thanksgiving crafts our site did!

This Thanksgiving, our site decided to make up a fall tree with different reasons as to what we were are thankful for as leaves.  The students were very creative in what they wrote, everything ranging from "I'm thankful for my mom" to "I'm thankful for all the things I have in my life."  All the leaves were then placed on the tree for everyone to enjoy :)

Biola Village

The last couple of days we have been working on diferent activities like these lovely drawings the kids drew for Thanksgiving and a couple of other small projects.  Today the kids and I are watching Arthur Christmas...it was a special request from Jacob due to his Birthday.

I brought cupcakes and more treats for the kids.  We also had a little project on Monday, the kids got to use their typing skills to type a Thank You letter to their parents mentioning all the things their thankfull for.  Here are some of the pictures I took during the activities.  Enjoy!

Hello everyone!

Last week the children made decorations for Fall.

The kids made an autumn tree.  To make the autumn tree, we went outside to find leaves.  Then, we went inside and colored the tree trunk and glued the leaves to the piece of paper.

They also did some Fall coloring.  Yea Fall!!!

Joke of the Day

Q: Why is 6 afraid of 7?

A: Because 7 ate 9.

Cottonwood Creek

The children and I made hats to play dodgeball.

The orange hats are turkeys and the blue and purple hats are the pilgrims.  If the child's hats fall and touch the ground they are out.  We played with our regular rules but just added the hats.  The children found it very fun!
