Biola Village

Last day of August! For some kids they have been in school for an month now but Biola is doing a great job by having the kids reflect back on the start of school. Hope Everyone enjoys their 3 day weekend!

This month at Biola Village we had lots of fun! We started the month colorful, with rainbows and butterflies. Towards the middle of the month, the kids had fun making our board for this month. We based the board on back to school. I had the children make butterflies and in them write or illustrate what they wanted to get out of school this year. I found that the kiddos were interested in learning plenty this school year. I hope nothing but success to them in this 2018-19 school year!

During this month of August the kids also enjoyed playing and building with each other. They played card games, board games, put puzzles together, and were very creative building with legos and blocks. We also had some coloring that was based on what out day was dedicated to.  We had sticker day, animal day and dino day in which we made dinosaur eggs.

August Activities

Transitioning back to school mode has never been easy but the after-school coordinators at Washington Plaza and Villa Del Rey have been doing a great job keeping the kids busy with fun projects.

Washington Plaza has been busy decorating their computer room to create a fun and welcoming environment for everyone. Below is their decorated computer room

  (Before & After)

The kids at Villa Del Rey created some awesome picture frames, bags, little houses and piggy banks. Below you can see how unique and creative the kids were with their artwork.

Casitas Del Sol

The month of August is coming to an end your days will soon be shorter but the after school activities will still remain amazing. This month at Casitas Del Sol the students created some great activities. Below is the activity

At Casitas Del Sol we talk about the kids favorite colors. What color is their favorite food, what is their favorite color, what color is their skin and eyes? After talking about it they worked on an activity sheet based on the previous questions. They colored and draw the activity sheets.

Parksdale Village

Here is a great activity that was provided by the after school coordinator at Parksdale Village. This fun activity is definitely one to try if you haven't already. And if you did already ... why not again!

GOOP AND SLIME RECIPES FOR KIDS

1) HOMEMADE HARD GOOP RECIPE FOR KIDS

Take a cup of cornstarch add to a bowl… Take a cup of baking soda add it to the bowl… Take 1/2 cup of water and add it to the bowl… Mix with your hands-they will get messy a bit and the “Liquid but Not” will harden– then soften –then drip while you form and play with it. It comes off with a little soap and water!

NOTE: ‘Liquid but Not’ and ‘Slimish Goop’ are very similar. The first is more firm/hard. The second is similar to mucous as it goes through the fingers and hands. It’s ‘slimier’ — as the title denotes. ( For either activity, add drops of water as needed–to keep the consistency as desired. You’ll find that for any of these ‘experiments’ adjustments will be needed–which is O.K. It’s science!!! Be sure to remind kids that this is what it’s all about…experimenting to see ‘what’ happens!

Rancho Lindo

At Rancho Lindo the kids have been busy by creating some awesome jokes and creating some amazing art. Since football season is near this is a great activity for the kids.

Next week students in the after school will be working on some drawing . They traced  their favorite football team on white construction paper. Perfect art and craft now that football season started.

Jokes

Happy Friday Everyone! Here's a joke that was given by a student at Rancho Lindo.

When is a baseball player like a spider?

Answer: When he catches a fly ball

Cottonwood Creek

Last month due to the celebration of the United States independence the kids at Cottonwood Creek created and discussed about the United States flag.  Below is the beautiful flag they made.

This past July we focused on what the armed forces provide for all Americans. We went into depth on how blessed we are to have such heroic soldiers putting their blood sweat and tears into protecting our country. We also took the time to make this incredible American Flag out of construction paper. Some children cut the red paper while others cut the white paper and of course, making the stars was my task as it was most difficult. This flag took us about two weeks to make.

Viscaya Gardens

Good morning! The after school coordinator in Dinuba has been using creative activities for the kids. Allowing the kids to have a friendly competition yet the ability to work together to pick a winner is wonderful. Activities that have multi-purposes is great for the kids as they grow up.

Greetings from Viscaya Gardens in Dinuba, for this month of July we have so many fun activities planned and done. One of the recent activities that we did was painting. I let the kids be creative and free to design what ever they wanted to. However, this did have a twist to it, which was the best painting would win a prize. All the kids enjoyed voting and having the chance to win a prize. I also like to hear the children's ideas and incorporate them, one of the recent ideas they brought to me was doing a pot luck and making slime. I planned it and we did it, with everyone's help. This Friday like many others we have "movie day" where we enjoy watching a movie and eating popcorn.

Washington Plaza

Hello All! As the temperatures remain extremely high this is a great way to keep the kids entertained while creating something personal. Now with their new cool backpacks they can add the key chains to make it unique to their own personalities.

Summer activity. The kids colored and designed their own key chains. They enjoyed making their own designs on it. Fun summer activity that kept the children occupied.

Casitas Del Sol

Hello All! Casitas Del Sol after school coordinator has been incorporating basic life skills with fun games. It is great to see the children come together to choose one activity that everyone can enjoy.

At Livingston Casitas Del Sol every Friday we have " Fun Friday". Children have the option of choosing between watching a movie, playing any sport game outside, or playing board games inside. Last Friday they decided to play board games. They chose to play Monopoly, this game besides having fun it helps them to learn how to work with money. They had so much fun that it was time to go home and they did not want to.
