Parksdale II

Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!

I hope everyone is having a good day now that Christmas is only 5 days away.  As you can see the children already made their stockings and put up the Christmas tree.  They had so much fun doing this activity and are looking forward to making their gingerbread houses today.  Hope you enjoy the pictures below.

Parksdale

Hello Everyone, so the children and I asked ourselves…what is Christmas all about?  I believe this beautiful poem captures the meaning of this wonderful season.  Enjoy!

Also, here are some photos of the stockings the K-12 children have been working on.  It was easy to print these worksheets off and let the children create their Christmas list.  They had to think of things/goodies they wanted for Christmas.

This poem is from the web site: heavens inspirations

Christmas will always be for us
A time to reflect on Christ,
The gift God gave to all the world
Was the gift of His life

We know Christmas is not about tinsel,
Nor fancy Christmas wreaths,
Nor is it about all the decorations
That adorns our Christmas trees

And it's not about Holly or Mistletoe
Hanging from our doors,
Nor is it about the gifts that are left
By the jolly Santa Claus

Christmas is more than all of this
And the only reason why
We celebrate Christ's birth together
And the wonder of His life

So remember as you celebrate,
Just what it's all about
And invite the Lord to join with you,
Instead of leaving Him out

For He will always be the reason
We celebrate this day,
No substitute the world may offer
Can take that meaning away.

The children have been so good in completing their homework assignments that it's time to reward them with some food arts & crafts...ginger bread men and houses.  YUM-O!  The children had so much fun doing these and we encourage other sites to try these as well. We also made some stockings ready for Santa to drop off goodies into.  Here comes Santa Claus...WOW!!!, where did the year go.  2014, here we come!

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful sunny day.  As you can see from the photo below today is nice and sunny and it's perfect for the kids to play some ball outside on our wonderful basketball court.  What better way to keep their body in shape than to have some physical outdoor activity.  Don't forget to keep warm though.

Cottonwood Creek

Hello coordinators and all the children at all of the Self-Help communities!!!

The Christmas spirit is in all of us, especially the children here at Cottonwood Creek!  We have just dug into the spirit and have been working on everything from holiday crossword puzzles to writing about what we are looking forward to this December.  We have also created multiple projects and have set up our Christmas tree and decorated it with our projects that we have made.  What I'm really proud and happy to share with everyone is our Christmas letters the kids wrote to Santa.  I had read before that all the letters that get sent to the north pole do not go unnoticed but that the post office has a program called "letters to Santa" and they take on the task of writing back on every letter received.  Isn't that wonderful!!!

Well I'm happy to say we sent our letters in and we got a response from Santa!!  WOW!!!  The kids were over the moon!  They were so happy to hear from Santa and it really gave them hope!  Thank you United States Post Office!!!  Aside from that, we have been working on decorating the tree so we made some "Christmas lights" with the name of all the Cottonwood Creek children.  They really liked the idea of having their name on the Christmas tree!  It was simple and looks very nice.  We also made some snow men ornaments made out of  popsicle sticks and felt for the scarf...for the nose and buttons we simply used hole punched circles and glued them on our snowman.  It has been such a good month and it's not even over!  I wish everyone a great rest of the month!

Hello everyone!!!  As a follow-up to my earlier post, our Christmas Trees are finally done!!!  The children have done and incredible job.  As mentioned in other posts this really is the most wonderful time of the year!

FYI - Santa's stuck in the chimney and a big tree by a child who wanted to show his niner spirit with Christmas spirit (49er colors)!  Well done!

Sand Creek

Hello to one and all,

December is a such a beautiful month to create lots of great arts and crafts.  We believe in the spirit of Christmas and we cherish what it means to each one of us.  We have started to decorate our Sand Creek community room for the Christmas Season.  The children have been very creative/busy and have made our very own Christmas tree.  By using our hand-prints on construction paper we decorated the tree with ornaments made by the children.  Really Cool!!!  We also made some wreaths, snow flakes, gingerbread men, reindeers, Santa Claus, center pieces with candles, angels and stockings...Whew!!!  The children are anxiously waiting for Santa to fill their stockings with candies and surprises.  We wish everyone a "Merry Christmas" and a "Happy New Year."  God bless everyone!

Parksdale

Hello Everyone, as you can see from the photos below, the children from Parksdale I are focusing their time on their homework and making the grade.  The children bring in their homework throughout the week and together we work out the problems from reading, writing assignments to math...you name it.  We're not just after school coordinators...we're educators.  Keep up the great work everyone!  Also, please enjoy the photo at the bottom of my K-12 grade students decorating our Christmas tree.

Cottonwood Creek

Hello to all!!!

I hope you had a good Thanksgiving and I'm sorry that I'm sharing my blog so late.  Here are our turkey projects that we put together to decorate our classroom before our Thanksgiving party which I don't have any pictures of because I forgot my phone that day...regardless we had a great time. Since we had extra time we played fun games like bingo for a few days before Thanksgiving...it was a great short week but it was fun nonetheless!  Now this week everything has shifted to Christmas decorations but more of that in the coming week!  Hope you enjoy our pictures of our projects!
