Sand Creek

Hello from Sand Creek,

June is/has been a great month.  The children worked so hard on their Father's day activity.  They decorated their cards as well as made a special present for their dads.  Also, since the 4th of July is coming, right around the corner, we have been busy creating some craft activities to decorate our computer room.  We are encouraging everyone to talk about safety on the 4th.  Some people like to buy fireworks and don't think about the danger involved...make sure to talk about being safe and if you are going to buy fireworks, buy the "Safe and Sane" fireworks with an adult who will take the necessary precautions to ensure safety.  Again children need to be supervised by an adult...let's be smart out there...there's a lot of dry grass and we don't need any out of control fires.  I hope everyone enjoys our country's Independence Day...be fire safe and have water, dirt and a shovel in case you need to ensure those fireworks are truly out!

Parksdale Village II

Hello!

Today I had the children draw themselves on poster paper.  I chose this activity because the girls really wanted to show off their personality and what better way to bond with the girl's than to draw ourselves and just have fun.  Please enjoy.

Lincoln Plaza

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since I've posted a blog but that doesn't mean Lincoln Plaza hasn't been busy.  We have been nothing but creatively busy here at the Plaza with more to come.  This summer I have challenged my children to think outside the box with their crafts and they have managed to pleasantly surprise me.  We are also trying to stay cool by doing some water activities as we wait for the 4th of July.  Happy Independence Everyone!!!

An update:
Aprons are finished!!!!  Each child got really creative and the design I chose for mine is the hand print of each child.  By doing so I can remember and look back at the work I've done and all the children that I've helped in the past.

Parksdale Village II

Hello everyone out there in cyber space land,

Today is fun Friday and what better way to keep the kids fresh and cool than to have a water activity outside (supervised of course).  Hope everyone stays fresh in this hot weather!!!  Before I forget, we also worked on our Father's Day activity today.  WOW!  I can't believe we're already in the middle of June.  OK, in order to make this (see pictures below) you will need Styrofoam cups, yellow paint and sturdy construction paper to make the handles.  You can also use glitter and/or markers to draw on them (i.e. #1 Dad, You're the Best Dad Ever...).  It's really easy and fun to do...hope you enjoy and Happy Fathers Day to every Dad out there!!!

Sand Creek

Hello everyone!!

The past few weeks at Sand Creek have been a blast!  Really!  During the month of May we made our Mother's day projects out of recyclable materials.  It really is amazing to see how we can use recyclable items and make fabulous jars with flowers in them.  The children enjoyed making this special craft project for their mom's...they also made a special mother's day card.  Besides the arts and crafts projects, we have focused some of our time on learning about sea animals...we made our own little ocean in the computer room. Very Cool!!!  The children learned about all types of different sea animals, how big some are and what they like to eat.  The oceans ecosystems are incredibly diverse.  Below are some pictures of our craft activities and since Father's day is approaching, we are planning our next project...the dad's are in for a wonderful surprise.  Since Summer vacation is here lets talk about being safe...safety in the hot weather and being water safe especially around canals and swiming pool is essential.  Please be sure to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water, stay in the shade and keep cool cause it's going to get hot out there...until next time, stay cool!

Cottonwood Creek

Hola Everyone,

For the past few weeks at Cottonwood Creek, the children have been patiently or not so patiently waiting for summer vacation to arrive!  We have been trying to keep busy with tons of fun activities! (Sorry I haven't been photographing like usual but I do have pictures of some of the activities).  The children chose to color what they plan on doing this summer and then shared their drawings/paintings through story form to the whole group.  The children let their imaginations run wild...the great thing is that they will be involved with our after school activities all summer long.  Gotta keep that Brain muscle strong and firm...I have some wonderful activities planned, so no worries there.

We have tried going outside but this heat has been making it difficult, but when the children absolutely want to play outside we go for as long as I feel it is safe to be in the heat.  Lot's of cool fresh water on hand.  We are really pumped up about the 2014 World Cup which is starting up next week!  WOW!!!  The children are big soccer fans and they decorated the computer lab with a variety of soccer art work/coloring pages that they chose to color themselves!  I was/am excited as well so I decided to get in on the fun and color a page too! This Thursday we celebrated the end of the 2014 school year with a movie and snack.  No more teachers, no more books, no more teachers....wait I'm a teacher :(  We rented the "Little Rascals" movie and I brought ice popsicles so the kids could keep cool!!!

Parksdale Village II

Thinking about this past Memorial Day,

Lee Greenwoods iconic song, "Proud to be an American" comes to mind...

And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free, and I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me and I'll proudly stand next to him to defend her still today, 'cuz there ain't no doubt I love this land, god bless the USA.

Great song...we're so blessed to live in the USA...freedom really isn't free, just ask any military service member or family member of someone who is serving...please enjoy the photos below, the children put a lot of heart and soul into them.
