Board Games and Arts N Crafts Activities @Villa Del Rey

The students came together to create many different types of arts n crafts projects and even had time to play some board games. We started with making puppets, other creations with popsicle sticks, and some pot holders. Not to mention they also made beautiful flower art. Some of the students even played some of the board games available here in the community center and had a blast. As a whole, it was a very productive day and we hope to do it again in the near future.

Summer and Arts N Crafts @Goshen Village II

Summer 2019 @Goshen Village II has been very eventful this year. We learned about a variety of textures and hues for our water coloring activity and applied it to paint some great ice cream cones. We also made some pan flutes, and they came out really well for everyone. The students did an excellent job of engaging with one another so everyone could complete their pan flutes. Thank you to those of you who came in to participate and we hope to see more of you at our next Arts N Crafts activity.

Fun With Jellyfish @Sierra Village

In July of 2019, the children at Sierra Village had the opportunity to learn our planet's marine life. We studied a variety of sea life like sharks, star fish, jellyfish, dolphins and sea turtles. We later decided it would be fun to vote on a our favorite sea creature to make as part of our arts and crafts activity and choose the jellyfish. We used yarn, tissue paper, paper plates and googly eyes to make our jellyfish. Since this summer has been really warm in Dinuba, we have been making an effort to provide some ice cream to our residents in order to aid them with the harsh weather.

Toy Story 4 Arts & Crafts Activity @Sunrise Villa

The 2019 Summer has been really warm here in Wasco, with temperatures rising up to 110 degrees. To combat this heat, we decided bring one of Toy Story 4's new characters (Forky), to life here at Sunrise Villa. The kids got really creative and made some amazing Forkys together in the community center. It was important for us to do this activity indoors, so our young residents knew they could also have fun indoors and expand on their arts and crafts skills. Thank you for making this activity fun and collaborative.

Sea Ventures @Lincoln Plaza

In July of 2019, we were hooked on learning at Lincoln Plaza. We dove into the ocean and learned about some marine animals. Some of the animals included starfish, sea turtles, clownfish, sharks, and pufferfish. We read an article about various sea creatures and took notes. We also did an art project featuring some of our favorite sea creatures. After finishing our art projects, everyone had the opportunity to share our their most preferred topic.
At the end of the month, we had the opportunity to watch a documentary on the recent negative changes that are affecting our oceans. The students were excited to learn that by simply changing to a reusable water bottle or recycling the grocery store bags, they can help reduce the amount of plastic in our oceans. Thank you to those of you who were able to be there and hopefully there will be more of you there next time we explore what makes our seas magical.

Summer Cool Down @Parksdale Village II!

Friday August 2, 2019, we had a back to school "Beat the Heat!", summer social activity. The kids had an awesome time during the balloon fight and got to stay cool at the same time. We made sure to pick up after ourselves as well, in consideration of maintenance. Hopefully we can do this again in the near future, and have even more participants. Until next time!
