Parksdale Village II

On Monday the kids chose to make a sea animal.  They broke off into groups of three and each group had a diffrent sea animal.  All the needed was paper, sticks, paint, and paper plates. The most important thing was team work and learning to get along with each other.

Hope you like our activity!!

The kids from Biola Village and I are proud to announce that we just added 3 New Books to our little library.

This week we did a lot of fun stuff: we made a salad using seasonal vegetables and we made our own little foam fruits and vegetables.

Parksdale Village II

I was so excited when I came across this awesome craft on Pinterest that I immediately got up, grabbed the materials, all the kids, and went to work.

It was so easy to make and turned out really cute.

Materials:
Plastic bottle (I used a water bottle, but try to find a bottle with smooth plastic)
Water
Blue Coloring paint
Plastic produce bag
String

My picture isn’t the best, but it really is worth making!!!

Today we created a sea horse. It was great. The kids had so much fun because they made it themselves.

That's one way to keep them fresh. Hope you like it.

Biola Village

Hello everyone,

The kids and I are super excited to tell you some of the fun activities we have been working on for the last few weeks.

First, we made fun patriot bracelets for the 4th of July.  We also made our own 4th of July decorations. Before the fourth we went over some safety rules for using fireworks, so the kids could have fun and be safe on the 4th of July.

We have made fun looking fruits and vegetables from foam to remind them that it is really important for them to eat healthy. Also, we had some fun activities outside: played some basketball and a little football.  This reminded the kids about Power Play.

We also had a drawing contest.  The winner got 2 whole hours of free time on the computer.  This meant they could spend the 2 hours however they choose.  The drawing contest went on for the month of June and I ended up adding 2 extra weeks because we had three new residents that joined the contest.  I will post pictures of the winners on Monday morning!

Have a safe weekend everyone!!

Villa De Guadalupe

Hello everyone,

This week the kids had a water balloon fight, which was so fun!  They ate some ice cream pops to cool down and also watched the movie Matilda.

Cottonwood Creek

Hello!

I Hope that all of you had a wonderful weekend celebrating our beautiful country's Independence Day! We had a fun time preparing and decorating for the Fourth of July! We shared what our plans were and went over what NOT to do close to fireworks. We also went over things that were helpful to have in hand in case of an emergency.

We also had great time making fireworks with our own hands (well, metaphorically speaking). First, we took a couple of pieces of blank paper. Second, we folded it into two and traced our hands. Then, we cut the traced hands and got to use bright colors to paint the hands. After that, we took shiny glitter and poured as much or as few as they wanted to then we let it dry and stapled it all together to make it look like a bursting firework. Lastly, I taped it to the front window of the classroom and put a sign that read "Cottonwood Creek wishes you a happy 4th of July!"

That was not all! We also did a color by number coloring worksheet that showed colorful fireworks! The day before Fourth of July one of the kids brought a movie so we had a movie day and a snack to finish off the fun week! Hope you enjoyed yourself as much as we did this past week!

Cottonwood Creek

Hello All!

We have been having a good time here at Cottonwood Creek.

Recently, we have been working out of the power play campaign book. One of the activities that we worked on was "powerful art" project. I explained it to the children and then let them express themselves by painting, writing, or using clay to show what their favorite healthy food was or why it was important to stay active and eat healthy. This only took us a da,y but the next day the kids continued to share amongst themselves about how much they liked to be outside in the playground and how they loved to eat peaches, mangos, oranges, and watermelon with chili powder.  So I decided to go with all this excitement and talk about eating healthy and found a printout of a tree with blank boxes like a cause effect worksheet.

We started by saying before I grow up ______ and on the first box they said: before I grow up I have to ______ (example: eat healthy). Then, they would say what was some of their favorite healthy food(s) is.

On the next box they would draw some of the favorite foods. The box that followed read: I have to ______ (example: be active). They would also list some of the ways they could do that. On the following box they would draw the favorite way they like to play.

Lastly, they would say what they will be when they're all grown up because of the healthy choices they made!!  I decided to reward them on how super of a week we had that I brought them what they had been talking about earlier in the week! I chopped up about eight peaches and a couple of the kids brought over the chili powder they had been talking about.

To finish the week, we had a movie day on Friday!
