Sand Creek

Hello everyone, hope you're enjoying this month of November as much as all of us here at Sand Creek.  The children have had so much fun learning about the Fall Season and the upcoming Thanksgiving Day Holiday.  They made several craft activities, wrote about the season and they learned about the importance of giving thanks, especially during this month of November.  There are many really cool/great things going on here but one in particular deals with what we call our "Thankful Tree."  We traced out our hands using different Fall Season colors.  The children had the opportunity to make a Thankful Card to share with their families...they made pilgrim and Indian crafts to recognize some of our American culture.  It's been a great month to share our different cultures like our food, ideas and traditions and get to know how everyone celebrates this beautiful time of year.  Hope everyone has a great THANKSGIVING DAY :-)

Hello Everyone, here are some of the fun crafts we have been working on based on our current Fall season.  After working on homework, it's always nice to let the creative side of the brain get involved.  Enjoy :-)

Sand Creek

On October 31, we celebrated our Fall Festival. We played games, we made a mummy out of toilet paper roles...we also made some delicious food i.e. cupcakes...food activities are so much fun and the students get their clean hands dirty.  The children created their own design on their cupcakes and let me tell you they were creative.  They made a witches hand using a food servers glove, popcorn and candy corn.  When all these festivities concluded we sat down at the table family style and ate pizza, chips, cupcakes that they had prepared and drank juice.  Yummy!!!  The children then trick-o-treated at the complex/community room with several other children and got to enjoy their treats at the end of the day.

Cottonwood Creek

Hello to one and all!!!

Hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween! For the past few weeks we have been doing almost anything and everything Halloween...activities and crafts and it has been contest central around here!!  To start with, we had a door contest.  It was a collective project so the kids had to work in teams.  Little kids vs. big kids was the theme...it was really fun because the students got into it and tried their hardest to be the winner.  I promised the team who won a prize but since they were both great I bought them glow in the dark sticks so that they could wear on Halloween night and be more visible.  Gotta be safe out there!  The next little art project we did was the "trick or treat" bag where they got to decorate a brown paper bag whichever way they liked.

I thought it would be more fun than just buying regular bags from the store and putting their candy inside...the kids loved the idea so it was a fun and engaging project.  A couple of days before Halloween I printed some Halloween safety coloring pages and got a quiz page from the McGruff the crime dog website...it has so many helpful rules and tips on how to be safe on Halloween.  Each student colored a page and then at the end shared what they had learned from that page with the rest of the children.  Last but not least, for our Fall festival we had a costume/Halloween party!  It was on Friday instead of Thursday because the children decided not to come on Thursday so they could get two hours extra on Friday, more time to celebrate Halloween!!!

It also gave us time to watch an entire movie as well as play games like bingo...the parents were also kind enough to send different treats with the children so they could eat while enjoying the party.  The children really enjoyed what I had for each of them in my bag of tricks.  In a brown paper/sack bag I put a little bag of chips, a juice and a pencil.  It couldn't have been a Halloween party without a candy bag which I also put together!  It was worth it because the children had been on their best behavior all month!  You know how hard that can be sometimes!  Kidding!  Well all jokes aside, it was a great party and fun month over all!  I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!  Can't wait to see what's in store for this month!

Rolling Hills

Good Morning Everyone from Rolling hills!  These past couple of weeks our students have been very very busy with their homework...so I wanted to give them a little break.  I asked the students what they would like to do and they gave me lots of ideas.  I mean LOTS!!!  They made puppets, drew their own art pictures like Picasso, play dough flower crafts, a fall progress report party, button art crafts, learning how to make a clock, breast cancer awareness day...everyone got to make their own pink ribbons to help the research, board games...playing and teaching them how to be responsible for everyday life.  Also, whenever we have free time we play at the park or shoot some hoops to be fit.  Everyone here has had an awesome couple of weeks. Enjoy the pics below and have a nice day until the next blog.

Biola Village

Hello Everyone!

I'm super excited to tell you guys about the Halloween Carnival/Costume Party we had!  It went Great!!!  All the kids left the carnival with lots of candy and prizes.  I'm so happy because most of our residents came with their whole families and it was great because we took advantage of this opportunity to talk about some really important issues that have taken place here in our community.  Officer Robles from the Sheriff's Department, our Manager and I decided to give the residents important information about BULLYING, CRIME AND WARNED THEM ABOUT TAKING THE KIDS Trick or Treating on Halloween.  Gotta be careful out there!  We also encouraged them to report any crimes to the Police/Sheriff Department.  Our residents were really thankful to hear that we care about our community and our children.

After the small but useful information session, we started all the Fun!  We had pizza for everyone and lots of fun games for the children including Musical Chairs, Eat the Donut and Pie Contest...whoever finishes the donut or the pie first would receive a prize!  We had a Ring Toss and Hunting for Candy at the Haunted Graveyard.  Spooky!!!  We also had some candy bags for the children that were too afraid to go Candy Hunting.

Last but not least we had a special guest, Michael Myers!  Here are some of the pictures I took, Enjoy!
