Parksdale Village

The After-School Coordinator at Parksdale Village provided a great step-by-step guide to a holiday activity. So give this Holly activity a try!

Here are some of the activities that we have made on the month of December.

Santa crafts have to be one of our favorite – crafting with pom poms and cotton balls couldn’t be more fun for kids!

Make Your Own Pop Up Christmas Tree Card

For each card you will need:
  • A blank card
  • The tree template below printed onto green paper (or use white and decorate it with your favorite art technique)
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Thin double sided tape
  • Shape stickers, gems, sequins or patterned paper to finish off your tree
To make:
1. It’s actually easier to decorate the outside of your card before you add your pop up tree. We decided to keep the outside of our card simple by sticking on a stylized triangle tree shape cut from patterned paper. You could draw, stamp letters to make a holiday message, collage or decorate your card in any way you choose.

Parksdale Village

Here is a great activity that was provided by the after school coordinator at Parksdale Village. This fun activity is definitely one to try if you haven't already. And if you did already ... why not again!

GOOP AND SLIME RECIPES FOR KIDS

1) HOMEMADE HARD GOOP RECIPE FOR KIDS

Take a cup of cornstarch add to a bowl… Take a cup of baking soda add it to the bowl… Take 1/2 cup of water and add it to the bowl… Mix with your hands-they will get messy a bit and the “Liquid but Not” will harden– then soften –then drip while you form and play with it. It comes off with a little soap and water!

NOTE: ‘Liquid but Not’ and ‘Slimish Goop’ are very similar. The first is more firm/hard. The second is similar to mucous as it goes through the fingers and hands. It’s ‘slimier’ — as the title denotes. ( For either activity, add drops of water as needed–to keep the consistency as desired. You’ll find that for any of these ‘experiments’ adjustments will be needed–which is O.K. It’s science!!! Be sure to remind kids that this is what it’s all about…experimenting to see ‘what’ happens!

Parksdale Village

Hello All,

As you can see, we've been busy! This last week the children were very active. They played 'Apples to Apples', we had some fun bobbing for cherries, and we also made some Banana Split Sundaes! It was very fun and delicious.  Nothing but smiles among the kids.
