Hello everyone and Happy New Year,

Christmas was great.  Hope you all were excited to celebrate Christmas as much as all of us here at Parksdale Village I.  After wrapping all the presents and eating lots of delicious holiday food we were ready to welcome Santa.  Looking forward to 2014!!!

Parksdale

Hello Everyone, so the children and I asked ourselves…what is Christmas all about?  I believe this beautiful poem captures the meaning of this wonderful season.  Enjoy!

Also, here are some photos of the stockings the K-12 children have been working on.  It was easy to print these worksheets off and let the children create their Christmas list.  They had to think of things/goodies they wanted for Christmas.

This poem is from the web site: heavens inspirations

Christmas will always be for us
A time to reflect on Christ,
The gift God gave to all the world
Was the gift of His life

We know Christmas is not about tinsel,
Nor fancy Christmas wreaths,
Nor is it about all the decorations
That adorns our Christmas trees

And it's not about Holly or Mistletoe
Hanging from our doors,
Nor is it about the gifts that are left
By the jolly Santa Claus

Christmas is more than all of this
And the only reason why
We celebrate Christ's birth together
And the wonder of His life

So remember as you celebrate,
Just what it's all about
And invite the Lord to join with you,
Instead of leaving Him out

For He will always be the reason
We celebrate this day,
No substitute the world may offer
Can take that meaning away.

Hello Everyone, as you can see from the photos below, the children from Parksdale I are focusing their time on their homework and making the grade.  The children bring in their homework throughout the week and together we work out the problems from reading, writing assignments to math...you name it.  We're not just after school coordinators...we're educators.  Keep up the great work everyone!  Also, please enjoy the photo at the bottom of my K-12 grade students decorating our Christmas tree.

Well hello everyone, here is one of my kindergarten students.  As you can see from the photo she is learning her alphabet.  The Internet can provide many fun methods and resources to teach a variety of topics.  The Self-Help blog also provides a great set of tools to access great learning sites.  It seems like kids nowadays have so many wonderful opportunities to succeed in school.

Hello Everyone and Happy Friday!

Here are some pics that depict the Fall.  When you see ghosts and spider webs you automatically think Halloween which is the next big thing to come...in other words next to Thanksgiving and Christmas, Halloween is pretty cool.  Even though it's not a "Holiday" in the strict sense of the word, it brings people out to celebrate across the nation.  Enjoy the pics.

Parksdale

Today is Tuesday September 19, 2013 and we are having some free time. The children have been really busy with school and focusing on getting good grades.  So today the kids decided to play candy land and take a mental break. It's such a fun game to play.  It's a simple racing game...The race is woven around a storyline about finding King Kandy, the lost king of Candy Land. The board consists of a winding, linear track made of 134 spaces, most red, green, blue, yellow, orange or purple.

The remaining pink spaces are named locations such as Candy Cane Forest and Gum Drop Mountain, or characters such as Queen Frostine and Gramma Nutt.  The game is won by landing on or passing the final square and thus reaching the goal of the Candy Castle; the official rules specify that any card that would cause the player to advance past the last square wins the game, but many play so that one must land exactly on the last square to win.

Everyone have a great day!

Hello Everyone,

So the weather is getting hot...well, that the summers in the central valley.  We're getting creative on how to keep cool, we've been making some delicious cold smoothies with ice cream to keep us cool.  Today I had the kids get into groups of 6 for some competitive math games.  My winning team got to use the computers for half an hour...go winning team. This is a fun way to get the kids involved in math and keep their brains fit throughout the summer.  Please enjoy the beautiful painting of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Hello All,

As you can see, we've been busy! This last week the children were very active. They played 'Apples to Apples', we had some fun bobbing for cherries, and we also made some Banana Split Sundaes! It was very fun and delicious.  Nothing but smiles among the kids.
