Greetings from Cottonwood Creek!!!
We have been super busy taking in the last weeks of summer here at Cottonwood Creek! We have not been able to do a lot outside due to the HOT weather so we've decided to stay busy with indoor activities while still getting our hearts racing! We had a dance and sing off contest!!! The children really enjoyed it...some even formed bands or performed duos together. We also did this as a sort of ice breaker because we have newcomers to our computer lab crew! We got right into explaining the rules and how everything works but we also made a little fun "diagram" of how our group works so the new children could get familiarized with all the children that live in the complex.
It was a fun and helpful way of explaining/showing Cottonwood Creek to the new children instead of just having everyone say their names out loud to one another. The diagram added the visual dimension to help clarify what we do, who we are and where things are located within our community. Now onto our fun ocean/sea activity...I printed a template of fishes and then gave the children blue construction paper to symbolize water. I told the children that every fish represented their siblings and guardians that live with them in their apartment. They were free to be creative and draw other things and they did an awesome job! They also helped me color some fun pictures representing the summer season! Again they did an outstanding job! I just had to show their art work off so I displayed it on the computer lab window. All in all we have had a good past few weeks...the children have been so well behaved that I allowed them to have a movie day. One of the children was nice enough to let us watch his Lego movie! The children loved it! Two thumbs way up!!! We are also working on a few other fun things this week but I'll save that for our next blog entry, till then, keep cool and keep smiling.
