Sand Creek

Hope Everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving here is some activities the kids at Sand Creek did during this month.

Hello everyone, hope you're enjoying this month of November as much as all of us here at Sand Creek. The children have had so much fun learning about the Fall Season And Thanksgiving Day .They made several craft activities, and also had learned about the importance of giving thanks, especially during this month of November. There are many really cool/great things going on here but one in particular deals with what we call our "Thankful Tree." using different Fall Season colors. The children had the opportunity to make Thankful Card to share with their families...they made pilgrim and Indian crafts to recognize some of our American culture. It's been a great month to share our different cultures like our food, ideas and traditions and get to how everyone celebrates this beautiful time of year. Hope everyone has had a great Thanksgiving Day. And we are ready to start our Christmas craft activities.

Sand Creek

Hello everyone, hope you're enjoying this month of November as much as all of us here at Sand Creek.  During the past month of October, children made lots of creative crafts like pumpkins, skeletons, jack-o-lanterns, bats and lots of scary stuff.  They also played some cool games like bingo and loteria (Spanish bingo) and won some really nice prizes.  Not like a car or anything crazy like that but cool stuff!  On Halloween day the children came dressed up as their favorite Halloween character, we also made fun food activities which involved them decorating their own cupcakes and playing fun games with one another.  The children are looking forward to the next fall festival that we have planned at the end of this month.  They have a full list of wonderful games and great craft ideas.  We hope everyone has a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Sand Creek

The past few weeks at Sand Creek have been great!  During the month of August children got ready to go back to school.  They were so excited to meet their new teachers and make new friends and see old friends they haven't seen all Summer long.  We've recently been working on how each one of us can/should be better people by making positive changes within each of our lives.  If we want this world to be a better place, let's be nice and respect each other.  I also had the children work on some fun arts and crafts activities...from the picture below you can see they created cut outs of little people, which represent themselves and then I had them write a short paragraph about their own goals for this school year.  Children are amazing and we should help them think positive in order for them to meet their goals.  Hope everyone had a great Summer...now it's time to get ready for the Fall.  Halloween is right around the corner.

Sand Creek

Hello from Sand Creek,

June is/has been a great month.  The children worked so hard on their Father's day activity.  They decorated their cards as well as made a special present for their dads.  Also, since the 4th of July is coming, right around the corner, we have been busy creating some craft activities to decorate our computer room.  We are encouraging everyone to talk about safety on the 4th.  Some people like to buy fireworks and don't think about the danger involved...make sure to talk about being safe and if you are going to buy fireworks, buy the "Safe and Sane" fireworks with an adult who will take the necessary precautions to ensure safety.  Again children need to be supervised by an adult...let's be smart out there...there's a lot of dry grass and we don't need any out of control fires.  I hope everyone enjoys our country's Independence Day...be fire safe and have water, dirt and a shovel in case you need to ensure those fireworks are truly out!

Sand Creek

Hello everyone!!

The past few weeks at Sand Creek have been a blast!  Really!  During the month of May we made our Mother's day projects out of recyclable materials.  It really is amazing to see how we can use recyclable items and make fabulous jars with flowers in them.  The children enjoyed making this special craft project for their mom's...they also made a special mother's day card.  Besides the arts and crafts projects, we have focused some of our time on learning about sea animals...we made our own little ocean in the computer room. Very Cool!!!  The children learned about all types of different sea animals, how big some are and what they like to eat.  The oceans ecosystems are incredibly diverse.  Below are some pictures of our craft activities and since Father's day is approaching, we are planning our next project...the dad's are in for a wonderful surprise.  Since Summer vacation is here lets talk about being safe...safety in the hot weather and being water safe especially around canals and swiming pool is essential.  Please be sure to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water, stay in the shade and keep cool cause it's going to get hot out there...until next time, stay cool!

Sand Creek

Hello everyone!

April was an amazing month here at Sand Creek...these kids have had so much fun creating arts & crafts, getting involved in various learning activities and getting involved with recycling.  Gotta take care of our precious resources people!  Now onto our Easter stuff.  The children created their own Easter baskets using newspaper, they decorated them using different colored paints and tissue paper...they were so excited to do this project.  We celebrated Easter by having an egg hunt as well as eating some delicious desserts like cupcakes and we also made some bananas splits.  WOW!!!, we better get our exercise on.  We want to extend a big "Thank you" to Self-Help Enterprises for supporting us and allowing us to have so much fun.  We are currently working on our latest and greatest project for the upcoming Mother's Day...we're making vases using mayonnaise jars and flowers as well as water bottles and egg cartonsHope everyone enjoys the next coming months and we wish every mother a happy and blessed "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY."  Till next time...

Sand Creek

Hello everybody!

March has been a wonderful month, the children and I have been exploring and learning about "NATURE"...how flowers and plants grow and a little bit about how bugs change and grow as well.  Something very interesting and intriguing is the cycle of the caterpillar and how they turn into a beautiful butterfly.  This is really Amazing!  They learned that this process is called (METAMORPHOSIS)...this is just an incredible process of growth for this particular insect.  We also celebrated St. Patrick's Day and the children learned the meaning of this day with it's historical roots to Ireland.  I've attached some pictures of our activities from this month...the children really enjoy being part of the after school program here at Sand Creek...from help with their homework to learning about nature and all the fun arts and crafts they get to do.  Now we are getting ready and planning to celebrate "Easter."  Wow what a beautiful religious holiday!  Hope everyone enjoys this beautiful Spring day.
